One of the finest and fastest Avengers is Quicksilver and he has proved it on multiple occasions and not to forget his power of speed that he has showcased during the epic battle of the superteam. But before he was even a hero, he possessed a power: the ability to fly. However, he hasn’t used it much.
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch happened to be Magneto’s children
Quicksilver A.K.A Pietro Maximoff was first featured in the X-Men #4 by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. Originally, Quicksilver was a speedster. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, the brother-sister duo was a part of the Evil Mutants. They were working with Magneto who later turned out to be their father. However, both Wanda and Pietro eventually become heroes and both started working with the Avengers both Marvel Cinematic Universe and Comics. The power that Quicksilver had he could never make it to the movies.
In Avengers #43, George Bell, Roy Thomas, Stan Lee, John Buscema, and Jerry Mann, the opening of the issue is with the attack on Avengers by Quicksilver. Quicksilver pushed himself up in the air and started flying after toying with Hercules, Hawkeye, and Captain America. Also, Quicksilver’s sister Scarlet Witch was shocked by what he did. As she was surprised to see such powers in her brother. After everybody calms down, Pietro disclosed that his power to fly by him learning how to vibrate his legs. This technique lets him fly over short distances.
Quicksilver uses his “Power of Speed” but was unsuccessful in his mission
Lee enjoyed making Quicksilver learn how to fly as he later made the character do the same in X-Men #44. In this issue, Toad and Magneto trap the Avengers. Although Quicksilver manages to make Magneto do so the Angel escaped. But then Quicksilver used his ability to fly and began chasing him. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful at doing so. However, he was rewarded with an increase in height due to flying.
The flight powers that Quicksilver has are limited. This is because after he chased Angel, he started falling down all credit goes to the momentum. So, even if he has the power to flying it is not of much use. Because the power was not very impressive due to the limitations.
Unsurprisingly, MCU didn’t bother to give the same powers to their very version of Quicksilver. Because Pietro’s speed was quite impressive in its way. Quicksilver’s flight power couldn’t stand the test of the time.
