Kit Harington Was All Shocked When Night King Was Defeated in Game of Thrones

Kit Harington was supposed to kill the Night King in Game of Thrones. The superhit HBO series is the greatest TV show of this century. Though, the final season has divided the fans, especially the scene where Night King was defeated.

However, there are many conflicts between the Starks, the Lannisters, and other prominent families in Game of Thrones. But out of all, the greatest threat was beyond the wall. The Night King was the dreaded head of White Walkers. Many fans thought that Jon Snow would deal the Night King’s final killing blow after building up Jon Snow’s character for seasons. But finally, it was Arya who ended up doing so for good. Many found this moment as satisfying but yet frustrating in the long run.

Maisie Williams had talked about the Night King scene in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Williams communicated how Kit Harington was just as surprised as fans when it appeared to Jon Snow not killing the Night King. Williams said:

“[Kit Harington] expected it to go [Jon Snow’s] way, too, and he even said, ‘It was going to go that way. Someone told me in season three that I was going to kill The Night King.’ And then, he read the script, and it was Arya the whole time. (Laughs.) Yeah, I think it would’ve been too obvious. I’m glad that it was Arya, honestly. I think I had the best storyline of the final season.”

Williams is right about the surprise of Arya when Night King was killed

Fans might have been able to approve that Jon Snow didn’t slay the Night King if the remainder of the season hadn’t entirely destroyed all of his personality development. Kit Harington had performed an excellent job of depicting Snow’s character from his gentle beginnings to his growth as a capable and reliable leader. However, as the show ultimately exceeded George R.R. Martin’s books, Jon Snow got progressively terrible as a character. Not only was he fairly unsuccessful during the Battle of Winterfell, flunking to kill the Night King, but he frequently declined the Iron throne even though he was the legal heir.

John Snow, no doubt is kept away from the major victory of killing the Night King. But Kit Harington has really done a great job while portraying the character. Arya’s kill was another way Game of Thrones goes beyond expectations.
