Fans have been obsessive about the never-ending universe of vampires, werewolves, and doppelgangers. This may sound silly who haven’t watched the show yet. It’s been almost three years since The Vampire Diaries ended after eight seasons, leading to hours upon hours of rewatching by its devoted fans. The show was something else. Now, according to the latest reports, the supernatural drama might get a reboot as the fans demand to bring the series back. Isn’t it exciting? But one of its own casts doesn’t want the same.
We all know, it wouldn’t be The Vampire Diaries if there wasn’t death or to bring back the dead characters with loopholes. But actor Paul Wesley aka Stefan Salvatore doesn’t want to bring back his dead character on the show revival or its spin-off series The Originals and Legacies. Scroll down to know the reason here.
Stefan Salvatore’s Death:
One of the most beloved characters in The Vampire Diaries, Stefan Salvatore’s died in the finale when he sacrificed himself so that his brother Damon could have a life with Elena and to save their Mystic Falls. The Vampire Diaries reboot made fans incredibly emotional as the finale had everything: Katherine trying to set everything on fire, Stefan’s sacrifice for his brother and for the city, the reunion of Damon and Elena, and some glimpse into the future.
Now if rumours are to be believed, The Vampire Diaries reboot with season 9. And we all wish to see the cast again on the screen. But if you are hoping to see the Stefan again on screen, then you’re in for a major disappointment. Paul Wesley said there’s no way he’ll reprise the role of Stefan.
Why Paul will never play Stefan again?
The 37-year-old actor Paul and his former VPD boss Kevin Williamson discussed with an entertainment portal about their new project Tell Me A Story season 2. During the promotion, it was asked— when a Vampire Diaries reboot would be happening. To this Paul responded (Hold your heart it will hurt you)
“I actually haven’t been asked that. But unfortunately, that character is dead, so it’d have to happen without me.”
And being dead on VPD doesn’t really mean anything in this universe and even Paul agreed on this. Because that’s the kind of thing happens all the time and in fact, Legacies bring back Kai Parker from his Prison world.
To this, Paul reacted and said “Ohhh he’s back. No, I think, unfortunately, gosh, I have to be honest with you: I never see that happening. I don’t think it’ll ever happen. It just….how? Can you imagine in like 10-15 years, we’re so old looking and Ian Somerhalder comes out, you know? It’s like, oh gosh, no you can’t. Vampire have an eternal youth. That is unfortunately not the case with us. When they need to special-effects my face, that’s when I know I need to quit”
Well, it’s pretty clear now why he denied playing Stefan again? Do you agree with Paul?
