Actress Gal Gadot is reuniting with director Patty Jenkins for ‘Cleopatra’ Queen of Egypt in her next project. But it seems like the world isn’t ready to accept Gal Gadot in a different avatar.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot made her international debut with Fast & Furious (2009). However, she gained global recognition after she played the female superhero in the DC Universe. In no time, Gadot received immense love from the viewers and became one of the most iconic characters of the DC Universe. In fact, the 35-year-old actress even admitted that it was ‘Wonder Woman’ that completely changed her life. Recently, actress Gal Gadot announced that she is all set to collaborate again with ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins for a historical drama on famous Egyptian queen Cleopatra. However, netizens aren’t happy and slamming the actress for playing Egypt Queen in the film. Find out here why?

After Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot to play Queen of Egypt Cleopatra:

Actress Gal Gadot will be soon seen as the queen of Egypt, Cleopatra in her upcoming project. Gal Gadot took to her Twitter handle to announce that she’s again collaborating with filmmaker Patty Jenkins to present the story of Cleopatra on the silver screen with a different perspective. Gadot posted “As you might have heard I teamed up with @PattyJenks and @LKalogridis to bring the story of Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, to the big screen in a way she’s never been seen before. To tell her story for the first time through women’s eyes, both behind and in front of the camera.”

Further, Gadot even mentioned that she’s thrilled to announce the news on International Day of the Girl Child. However, this announcement has sparked a debate on Twitter. As most of the netizen thinks Gal Gadot isn’t right to play an Arab character.

Gadot’s announcement turns out into a criticism. Twitterati claimed that it is unfair for Gal Gadot an Israeli to portray the role of an Arab queen according to the history of contention between Israelis and Arabs. And then there is the question of a white woman playing a woman of colour on screen.
