Palpatine in Star Wars Darth Vader Has An Eye On Specials
Naturally, Palpatine has an eye upon the chosen one. He was a patient man and he wanted to turn Anakin to the dark side in his recruit. But with this plan he is pushing himself in great risk as according to the Sith Rule of Two: a Sith Lord must encompass power and their recruit make crave it. As being a chosen one, Anakin Skywalker has the potential to prove himself stronger than his master. It’s possible Palpatine was willing to take this risk because of his knowledge of Essence Transfer; he could be confident he could transfer his spirit into Anakin’s body should he be struck down.
This run of Star Wars Darth Vader #6, by Greg Pak, Raffaele Ienco, and Neeraj Menon, spots light on the balance of power between the Emperor and Darth Vader. This run takes the story after the event of The Empire return and it sees Darth Vader being tortured by Darth Vader for not being to turn Luke Skywalker to his dark side. It shows how vulnerable Darth Vader in Star Wars Darth Vader is as he is not able to save himself against the Emperor.
The Emperor can take Lightsaber from Vader’s hand and reverse Vader’s traditional technique by Force choking him. “You were the Chosen One, were you not,” Palpatine taunts. “Destined to bring balance to the Force! But who chooses the Chosen One? And why could they not choose another? You are but a tool, Lord Vader… which can be discarded when it no longer functions.”
According to the event in Star Wars Darth Vader, it seems Palpatine has misunderstood what it means to hold the power of the chosen one. He feels that his greatness in force lies in the fact that how powerful he is, that’s why he tries to torture Vader to prove that he is more powerful than the Chosen one. In the end, though, Anakin’s destiny as the Chosen One was not fulfilled through his power, but through his actions, when he chose to betray his Master out of love for his son.
