Future State Catwoman Artist Praises 1966’s Catwoman

The artist of DC’s Future State Catwoman, Otto Schmidt has come up with the art of the character as she was not seen over many years- Eartha Kitt’s description in the 1960s live-action Batman TV series.

Schmidt has posted the picture to Twitter after captioning it clearly with “Bastet”, the name of an Egyptian deity related to cats. He has also used the hashtags #Catwoman and #EarthaKitt.

The art has Selina Kyle/Catwoman who is posing in a dark costume, that is completed with a mask and cat’s ears.

Eartha Kitt (1927-2008) was a celebrated actress and musician who had a constant role as Catwoman on Batman from 1967 to 1968. It was the introductory time that the character had been illustrated and portrayed as a Black woman, long before Halle Berry was starred in 2004’s Catwoman.

Schmidt’s work for DC comprises Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Batman, and Teen Titans. He has brought all six issues of Marvel’s Hawkeye: Freefall.

The first shot of Future State Catwoman will be launched on Jan. 9, 2021.

The official synopsis of Future State Catwoman:

“Masked vigilantes have been deemed illegal, and the Magistrate has commandeered a bullet train to take those they’ve captured to a reformation facility—and filled the rest of the train with innocent children! Catwoman is hellbent on ensuring it never reaches its destination. Armed with a new magnetic suit, assisted by her trusty band of Strays, and featuring Catwoman’s new protégé, she must pull off the impossible: a train heist where she steals…the train itself! But Selina isn’t the only person aboard who has plans for this train and its most unexpected passenger!”

According to DC Comics, “In this Future State Catwoman, Gotham City is controlled by the Magistrate. This villainous regime has taken control of the city, now under constant surveillance. All masked vigilantes have been outlawed and Batman has been killed. But led by an all-new Batman, a new assembly of Gotham’s guardians rise to give hope to all of those who lost it!”

DC Future State starts in January 2021 from DC.
