The fast and Furious franchise was supposed to see its end with Fast and Furious 9 but adding two more movies in the line gave a perfect place to end the Franchise.
Since 2001, the Fast and Furious franchise is ruling the Hollywood Box-office with epic action-packed movies. Fast and Furious 9 was all set to be premiered in April 2022 but a coronavirus pandemic forced it to delay the release date till next year. Recently Universal has announced that the series will conclude with two more action-packed movies that are going to take on the legacy after F9, Justin Lin is going to direct these two films. The addition of two more movies in the line gave the franchise 11 movies in total and this total is the perfect way to take the Fast and Furious franchise to the finish line.
The Fast and Furious series started the storyline by spotting some light on Street Racing but with time it saw many complex twists involving terrorists, drones, and mercenaries in the game. The problem with the franchise is that when it focuses too hard on being serious, it comes off as mediocre. There’s a reason why the series saw this plot twist from street racing to focusing more on some deadly action scenes like the insane bank heist at the end of Fast Five.
It’s true that the franchise has covered a lot of roads and has delivered some movies that have blown the Box Office. After Tokyo Drift was released, the series would have only received straight to DVD sequels, and if it wasn’t for Vin Diesel’s cameo in the movie, it may not have made it to a ninth movie. The next problem came in with the death of fan-favorite Paul Walker.
Walker has been the heart of the franchise and played the main character for 6 movies. When he lost his life in 2013, the franchise can see the effect on the box office. What sets apart the films that focused on Brian from the more recent ones is the fact that Brian was always portrayed as a normal guy with a wife and a kid — someone that the audiences could relate to. With no Paul Walker in the movies, fans were left to enjoy masculine and daring Vin Diesel and Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
Because the has taken so many twists and turns in this long journey and now the whole pressure is on these two new lined movies to give the franchise a good end. It would allow the creators to put the finishing touches on the franchise, tie up plotlines and give characters the final bow they deserve.
