The most well known adaptations of the novel have been the live action feature films directed by Peter Jackson. Jackson’s approach to the trilogy released between 2001 and 2003  was indeed a significant success story. The last movie in the series, “The Return Of The King,” went on to become the second movie ever after titanic to make over a $1 billion at the box office.

It also went on to win 11 Oscars for the categories for which it was nominated.  This pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the fan following of the franchise in case you are unfamiliar with it. Therefore, Amazon Prime Video’s announcement for the adaptation was a very big and important moment for all the fans. The production of the series was already underway when it was halted in 2020, thanks to the coronavirus. Even though the first season has not finished filming, the show has already been renewed for a second season.

Elijah Wood’s Thoughts

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Elijah Woods, who played protagonist “Frodo Baggins” in the movie adaptation, expressed his thoughts on the show. “I find it very bizarre that they’re calling it Lord of the Rings as a shorthand, because it’s not Lord of the Rings,” he said, as reported by Fandom. “It takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth.”

Lord Of The Rings

The actor expressed his excitement for series all while explaining that the events in the series, as confirmed by Amazon Prime Video, take place prior to the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord Of The Rings”(about 1000s of years before), therefore calling it lord of the rings is a little misleading. Amazon Prime Video came forward and confirmed the synopsis for the series that were reported by TheOneRing.net to be correct, however, they never made any statements of what the title of the series would be. This fact can be taken into consideration while determining if the arguments put up by the former lead were indeed correct.
