Monster Hunter Elsa Bloodstone

Elsa Bloodstone Is Getting Her Own Novel And She Is Not From Frozen

Marvel’s version of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. An Elsa Bloodstone who is not from Frozen? Marvel and Vampires? Yeah, you heard that right.

Let’s go back two decades. While DC was stuck in a loop rebooting the Superman and Batman franchises and before Marvel began to explore its PG-13 cinematic properties like Spiderman, there was an R-rated Marvel movie that sparked a newfound interest in vampires; the Wesley Snipes starred Blade (1998) which brought commercial success back to both, the super-hero and the horror genre and went on to generate a commercially successful trilogy. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that a vampire series saved Marvel Cinema and paved the way for future Marvel movies, ultimately leading to the creation of the MCU.

Sticking to the fan-favorite vampire story trope, Marvel’s not-so-famous vampire hunter, Elsa Bloodstone is getting her own novel; Elsa Bloodstone: Bequest.

Featuring in Marvel’s Bloodstone series in December 2001, Elsa Bloodstone made her debut as a human born into the Bloodstone family. She inherited the Bloodgem, a shard of a magical meteorite that grants its wielder various powers including immunity to vampires, from her father Ulysses Bloodstone. She joined forces with Dracula to defeat another famous vampire, Nosferatu, and his minion vampires.

“That’s right, Captain Overbite… never mess with a Bloodstone!” ~ Elsa Bloodstone

Written by author Cath Lauria, Elsa Bloodstone: Bequest will see the titular character Elsa returning to her home, Bloodstone Manor, to her estranged sister whose Bloodgem has been stolen. Albeit having a sibling drama ring to the plot, with a tagline like “nothing a good grenade can’t sort out”, the novel promises to be full of gung-ho Gun-Fu as Elsa takes out monsters of all sorts from Marvel’s rich lore.

Elsa Bloodstone: Bequest is set to be the third novel in the Marvel Heroine series which revolves around a female protagonist from the Marvel comics. The first novel titled Domino: Strays released in October 2020featured Domino, whom most people know as the lucky girl from Deadpool 2 (2018) played by Zazie Beetz. The second novel set to be released in April 2021 will feature a well-known female X-Men, Rogue, who has appeared in many X-Men movies and animated series.
