Natalie Portman is currently composing for her upcoming movie ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. It will be the fourth film in the MCU that will be focused on the exploits of the mighty Asgardian with Mighty Thor, which means Portman will be sharing a bulk of the spotlight. The actress is busy putting on muscles for her character but her return as Jane Foster to the Thor universe is coming with a rather tragic arc.
Why Jane Foster’s Role Was Halted
The inducement was the firing of Patty Jenkins— it was originally her at the help of the second Thor film. But due to creative differences, she was fired and Alan Taylor was brought on board. It was after her firing that it was revealed that Natalie Portman had agreed to be in Ragnarok due to Jenkins and her removal didn’t sit well with her. With Waititi‘s creativity maneuvering the fourth Thor film, we can expect a fresh take at the direction. Another reason for Natalie Portman’s involvement could be the fact that she is not a mere love-interest in the film, but will soon transform in the Mighty Thor herself and wielding Mjolnir!
Comic has a different storyline
In the comics, Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor when she is undergoing cancer treatment, and Odinson is deemed unworthy of Mjolnir. She picks up his hammer and is instantly cured as the powers previously wielded by Thor are now hers. With the struggles and personal demons Thor faced in Avengers: Endgame, it is highly unlikely that he’ll be rendered unworthy but the rest about how Jane gains her powers remains intact. Jane has been always treated as nothing more than Thor’s love and it was clearly personified in Thor: Ragnarok about how they broke up off-screen. But the scenario in Thor: Love and Thunder has is clearly different from the past sequels. In the comic, Jane has been undergoing cancer treatment and at the same time, she pays an exorbitant price to become the hero world needed during the war of nine realms. Although Jane Foster is becoming the mighty Thor in Thor 4, it’s uncertain about how many stories would be taken from Comics for the movie.
Natalie’s Physical Alteration
Emphatically, Natalie would be undergoing a physical transformation for her role as Jane Foster. This transfiguration was clearly seen in the set photos shared by Natalie Portman. Undeniably, there has to be an alteration so as to show someone up to Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) assistance.
