Hawkeye was MIA in Avengers: Infinity War, but it looks like his big return in Avengers
Endgame is the beginning of a new phase of his Marvel story.
Jeremy Renner is the latest Avengers star in talks to reprise his role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his own spin-off series for the Disney+ streaming service. The site reports that the premise would draw from Marvel Comics lore by having Hawkeye (or Ronin, as he’s now being called) training protege and future Young Avengers member Kate Bishop as a passing of the torch from one Hawkeye to another. This might lend credence to a recent fan theory that Kate Bishop will be introduced in Endgame. There’s ample evidence of that being the case — since a recent trailer included a shot of Ronin training a female archer
Marvel’s Hawkeye spinoff can tell the Ronin story Avengers: Endgame failed to deliver on
That female archer’s identity wasn’t decipherable in that brief trailer scene. She could just as easily be Ronin’s daughter Lila Barton, but confirmation that Kate will be in his Disney+ spin-off series makes that possibility seem less likely. The studio has declined to comment on reports of this spin-off, as have Renner’s representatives. Jeremy is one of several Avengers stars being lined up for their own spin-off series once Disney+ launches later this year. Disney is currently developing team-up shows for The Vision/Scarlet Witch and Falcon/Winter Soldier, too.
Tom Hiddleston also revealed earlier this year that he’s “definitely” being lined up for a Thor spinoff where Loki travels through time meddling in historical events. “It’s really exciting to do this series about Loki,” he teased in January. “I can’t say much, we’ve all got to get through Avengers: Endgame first.” On the animated front, Disney+ is also working with Marvel on a What If…? show. The series will feature the voices of MCU actors in stories that change events from the film canon with quirky twists.
Hawkeye’ Spinoff Series About Echo in Early Development for Disney Plus
The “Hawkeye” series at Disney Plus may already be getting a spinoff. A show centered on Echo, a deaf Native American character who will be played by Alaqua Cox in the “Hawkeye” series, is in the early stages of development for Disney Plus, Variety has learned exclusively from sources. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are attached to write and executive produce the show, with a writers’ room recently being assembled. Marvel Studios will produce.
