MacOS 11.3 and WatchOS7.4 are also set to release next week.
Apple has revealed, in a press release for the company’s new Tile-like AirTag tracker, that iOS 14.5 will arrive officially “starting next week”― as stated by Wall Street Journal’s, Joanna Stern. It is reported that AirTags will be going on sale from April 30th and will work only with devices that are running iOS 14.5 or higher. Similarly, macOS 11.3 and WatchOS 7.4, which support the new Apple Podcast Feature update, will also release next week.
Earlier this year, in February, Apple launched the 14.5 betas alongside WatchOS 7.4 beta. Besides the AirTag support, it will also apply Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency requirement, this commands developers to ask for permission before tracking users for ad targeting. This feature was first announced last year and faced quite a bit of criticism and opposition from Facebook in particular. Facebook’s argument was that this feature might affect small businesses that heavily rely on ad tracking for their sales.
In other update news, iOS 14.5 also introduced some inclusive feature, for example giving the provision to change Siri’s voice and introducing a variety of new skin tone options for some emojis. Another interesting update is giving Siri the capacity to learn which audio-listening apps we prefer for definite activities. This spares us from setting a new default appand is quite a helpful evolution.
Although we are not sure if this feature will make it to the final release, we do know when to expect to find out which features finally made it to the release. However, Apple has not said which day 14.5 will release, but when it does iPhone users will easily be able to download the update in the settings of their phone, per usual.
