After DC, it seems like Marvel wants Henry Cavill to play Captain Britain
As one esteemed James Bondexpert thinks Henry Cavill is “too famous” to play the 007 characters. Thus him playing another Superhero character is out of the question given the fact that he has already been DCEU’s Superman for almost a decade. But then again, we never know, as Henry Cavill has built most of his career playing extremely famous characters and that has worked just fine for him.
The 37-year-old star first rose to fame when he acted in BBC’s historical series The Tudors whereas Henry the VIII’s brother-in-law Charles Brandon, another well-known character of his was when he played the mythical Greek hero Theseus in Tarsem Singh’s flashy Immortals. Ever since he has also played the classic Kryptonian, he’s also played the mighty Geralt of Rivia’sarmor for Netflix’s blockbuster hit The Witcher and even suited up as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes, which later went on to become one of the most-watched movies in the streaming giant.
Why Henry Cavill playing Captain Britain might be problematic
This whole idea of him jumping ship and signing with Marvel sounds fancy at best, however, insider Daniel Richtman has claimed that the actor is wanted to play Brian Braddock, also known as Captain Britain. The character technically already exists in the Marvel world he has been very subtly referenced by Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame, and there has been a bunch of rumours going around for years that Cavillwas being considered for a role in the franchise.
However, we think that Cavill is too closely linked with Superman and DCEU and him playing another Superhero might be distracting and might also ruin any chances of the two franchises immersing in the future. We might see Captain Britain in MCU in the future but whether it will be Henry Cavill playing him or not, is a question that is yet to be answered.
