Netflix’s popular drama “365 Days” recently spills the beans about the possibility of a sequel.
This Polish drama released in February 2020 on Netflix and gained popularity as soon it released on the OTT platform. The erotic drama quickly started drawing comparisons from the “Fifty Shades” trilogy club. The movie casts “Michelle Morrone” as Don Massimo and “Anna Maria Sieklucka” as Laura Biel (in the lead roles) along with several other actors. The movie is based on the 1st novel (in the trilogy) by author Blanka Lipinska and is directed by Barbara Bialowas and Tomasz Mandes.
Storyline
The movie starts off as a young sales director Laura is vacationing in Sicily. There she’s spotted (and later kidnapped) by a member of a Sicilian Mafia family named Massimo. He soon explains how he has been stalking her for years; how he plans to kidnap her for 365 days and force himself on her till she falls in love with her. He’s ready to do anything she wants, trying to win her heart is all that he wants in return. The story then revolves around how and what all he does for her, how at the end she finally in love with him and they were about to get married. But there’s a twist in this romantic saga, when Laura’s car crashed and that’s where the movie ends.
Sequels Announced
Apart from being declared as a bad movie, the movie also accumulated lots of controversy for romanticizing sexual violence and Stockholm syndrome and therefore asking for the removal of the film from the online platform. But even though films like 365 Days and/or Fifty Shades are never critically acclaimed and even scoffed off for alluring ways of sexual assault, these movies still hold a big market out there and are commercial successes.
So even after all the controversies that surrounded it, the movie’s getting not just 1 but 2 sequels on Netflix, according to Deadline. The actors (Michelle and Anna Maria) will remain the same, and so will the directors (Barbara and Tomasz). And much like its English counterpart, 365 Days will also retain the storyline from its 2nd and 3rd books by author Blanka Lipinska.
The 1st sequel will reunite the love birds Laura and Massimo (according to Deadline) but their relationship will be “complicated” by Massimo’s family’s reputation and also by a mysterious man who enters Laura’s life and is trying to win her heart, love, and trust at any cost. The popularity of 365 Days is no less as it enjoyed “10 days” of being in the “Most watched list” so that might be one of the reasons why Netflix griped their sequels. So wait for it till Netflix announces its release dates (once the movie is fully shot and ready for Light! Camera! Action!)
