Is Captain Marvel, the most powerful superhero in the MCU, powerful enough to defeat Thanos alone?
Thanos is one of the most powerful antagonists in the Marvel universe. The genocidal warlord of Titan was one of the last sons of A’lars. As often been termed as the worshipper of death, Thanos, has been the cause of multiple massacres in the Marvel universe. The marvel cinematic universe version of the character was born on titan to a-laws Thanos possessed a deviant gene which radically changed his appearance and though he was initially ostracized due to his brilliant mind he quickly rose through the ranks of the society Thanos very much wished to be both brilliant and deadly and thus he built his body too quickly becoming almost godlike.
Cursed with knowledge, Thanos found pleasure in killing. Thanos, on the other hand, and without the Infinity Stones, had superhuman strength, durability, stamina, speed, agility and reflexes, regenerative healing factor, and was a master manipulator and excellent hand-to-hand combatant – but so is Captain Marvel.
Carol Danvers of the alias Captain Marvel who is a top-tier human and Kree warrior hybrid is said to be 1960 born. She has the strength to match that of the Hulk, flight, and can go in deep space. This powerful hero can absorb a limited amount of energy and redirect it as more powerful photon blasts. As she’s a Kree-Human hybrid as a result of a blood transfusion of Yon-Rogg’s (Jude Law) blood, she has superhuman strength, durability, reflexes, enhanced speed and agility, regenerative healing factor, and longevity.

Energy-Based Powers of Captain Marvel
Thanos is super strong, has the powers of telepathy and telekinesis, and can shoot energy blasts. However, he fails to retain an upper hand in the energy-based powers of Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel’s photonic energy is practically limitless. After destroying the Light-Speed Engine‘s power core, Danvers became infused with the energy of the Tesseract.
Due to this, her body is capable of passively absorbing most forms of energy and transforming it into her signature cosmic energy, which she can then use in a variety of ways. as she can absorb the energy and use it to strengthen herself, such as when she absorbed the energy of the blasts fired at her from the Sanctuary II. However, Danvers does have her limits as she was unable to absorb the energy of the Power Stone when Thanos used it to punch her. Danvers was also able to subdue a weakened Thanos, by putting him in a headlock, long enough for the other Avengers to come to help her. During the final battle, Danvers was able to fight Thanos while almost managing to take away the Nano Gauntlet but was ultimately bested by him enhancing his strength with the Power Stone.
Thanos Has More Experience

Thanos is considerably older than Captain Marvel, meaning he has spent hundreds of years training himself in terms of combat, strategy, and so on. He has conquered numerous planets with his significant other Lady Death and has gotten better with each battle. It is his battle knowledge and experience that helped him win the Infinity War.
Captain Marvel Has More Physical Strength
Thanos is stronger than the Hulk and is a master tactician, able to go toe to toe with Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. Thanos was an extraordinarily formidable strategist with centuries of experience in tactical warfare and leading huge armies. Even without using his immense powers and combat skills, Thanos successfully conquered many worlds through just his tactical expertise and leadership of his army. Thanos is also extraordinarily skilled in manipulation, as without leaving his throne, he was able to easily and effectively manipulate other powerful beings, such as Ronan the Accuser and even Loki himself, into doing his bidding, and his strategical ingenuity was shown by how he created extremely complex and well-coordinated plans and instructed his manipulated pawns into performing, with the strategies he created and employed being so effective that he gave the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy immense trouble by causing the Battle of Xandar and Chitauri Invasion all the while remaining effectively anonymous easily fooling even the most intelligent human beings on Earth such as Iron Man and Bruce Banner from figuring out Loki had been aided by Thanos in his invasion.
Captain Marvel Is Faster Than Thanos
Despite appearing bulky and robust Thanos is fast. In his battle with Hulk, he didn’t just throw punches but dodged all moves that the Hulk tried upon him. Captain Marvel on the other hand is light and small but even faster. While enveloping herself with cosmic energy, Danvers can fly, glide and float through the air and vacuum of space without outside help. She can fly at incredible speed, allowing her to take off into the atmosphere and even outer space. In the comics, her binary form can traverse intergalactic space faster than the speed of light making Thanos no match for her Speed.
Thanos Is More Durable

Thanos’ long life allowed Thanos to refine his intellectual aptitude to the highest degree, making him quite possibly the most intelligent being in the universe. Without the aid of the Stone, it seems Captain Marvel was likely about to beat him by absorbing the energy from the stones.
