Loki is all set to feature multiple versions of the God of Mischief. Get ready to witness a different character of Loki than the one in MCU films.
Loki, an upcoming American TV series created by Michael Waldron and produced by Marvel Studios set in the MCU, shares continuity with the films of the franchise and takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. The show promises to showcase multiple incarnations of the God of Mischief, Thor’s half-brother Loki, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
“Part of the fun of the multiverse and playing with time is seeing other versions of characters, and other versions of the titular character in particular,” Feige told Entertainment Weekly.
It’s been almost two years since the announcement of the Loki series and is the most awaited and highly anticipated show. Loki is scheduled to premiere on June 9, 2021, and will consist of six episodes. It will be part of Phase Four of the MCU. There are some pretty stellar names on the cast list, including Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku.
Kevin Feige confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that the series would take place immediately after the trickster stole the Tesseract in “Avengers: Endgame.” By making off with the Space Stone, Loki screwed up a whole bunch of timelines, and the series will watch him fix these broken timelines while being guided by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and Owen Wilson’s TVA Agent Mobius in particular, setting up the premise of the series.
From the trailer, we can see Loki and Mobius traveling back in time, although it is still a mystery in which era Loki might find himself in. Also, he is suspected to find himself on Earth, and also Loki can be seen in the trailer wearing a pin that says, “Vote Loki”, while others around him also don the campaign accessory.
Since the mercurial villain is confirmed to be traveling through time and realities, we can expect him to return to the main timeline on Earth and space with his brother. We also expect Loki to connect to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will delve heavily into alternate realities that play a part in WandaVision and possibly the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Since the multiverse is a big place, which versions of the trickster might be seen aren’t yet fully clear. But one thing we all know is that it’s going to be a crazy adventure seeing Loki once again on the screen.
