“THE OFFICE” star Jenna Fischer explains why she was actually fired from the famous sitcom ‘Man with a Plan’.
The famous CBS sitcom Man with a Plan fired one of her stars named ‘Jenna Fischer’ and she has finally opened up about her infamous firing from the show. Jenna and her iconic role in ‘The Office’ where she played the role of ‘Pam Beesly’, the kind, humble, and loveable receptionist is something that’s hard to forget. The series went on to air for 9 seasons on NBC before coming to an end in 2013 and is certainly one of the most famous and very loved TV series in history.
One of the spotlights of the series was the romantic love story of ‘Pam and Jim’ (also known as John Krasinski) and for that very reason they became immensely popular and one of the most loved pairs on screen. Although her role as Pam is absolutely iconic and has cast an imprint in the mind of her fans, she was cast in another sitcom in 2016 called “Man with a Plan”.
Jenna played the wife of Adam Burns (aka Matt LeBlanc) and she decides to return to work, forcing her husband to manage their 3 kids along with his construction business. After 4 trending seasons and being absolutely loved by fans (as was visible in the ratings), the show got cancelled last year. But even before this whole cancellation agenda began, the show which was shot with Jenna in it, strangely removed her from the plot.
THE REAL REASON REVEALED
On her podcast called ‘Office Ladies’ (which she is a co-host of along with Angela Kinsey), she finally revealed what had actually happened. Jenna explained “I thought I was nailing it” and the network also wanted more scenes with her. However, when they showed it to a focus group, the feedback they got was “I don’t believe Pam would marry Joey”. The inability of them to separate the stars from their infamous roles of Pam and Joey actually led to her downfall and eventually forced them to recast for Andi (Adams wife).
Clearly, both are very famous for their iconic roles of Joey Tribbiani (in FRIENDS) and Pam Beesley (in The Office) and it became difficult for fans to separate these roles from their current show “Man with a Plan”. And though them being famous would have always worked in their favor, in this case, it somehow went against them. Considering how talented they are, maybe overtime they would have overridden their images of Joey and Pam into Andi and Adam.
The makers clearly had to make a tough call but that is the entire story behind the fiasco. Maybe if they would have given it time, things would have worked eventually but for better or worse, they called their shot and fired Jenna Fischer.
