Bella Ramsey says that the eighth episode of The Last of Us was her favorite to film as viewers eagerly await the series’ next installment. The most recent episode of the popular HBO series included a slight detour into Ellie’s past and her relationship with Riley, namely the tragic night when they were bitten by an Infected and Ellie discovered her immunity. After earning compliments for its attention to Ellie and Ramsey’s performance, a more thrilling episode may be on the horizon.

Bella Ramsey recently reflected on her experience filming HBO’s The Last of Us in an interview with Vogue. The next episode 8, “When We Are in Need,” was the actor playing Ellie’s favorite to film because of the show’s emotionally charged plot, she said while focusing on the filming of that episode. The following is what Ramsey said:

It was… draining. Yet, those were some of my favorite shoot days. Although it may sound masochistic, I actually find that I prefer the most heartbreaking passages.

Everything We Know About Episode 8 of The Last Of Us

The Last of Us episode 8 appears to be moving back to the current day after the flashback-focused episode 7, with Ellie still scrambling to figure out how to aid Joel in recovering from his stab wound. Her attempts will bring her into contact with David, played by Scott Shepherd, a pastor and the head of a neighborhood group of survivors who wants Ellie to join his community. There will be tension between the two since Ellie is suspicious of the other armed survivors and they are worried about adding another “mouth to feed” to the group.

It has been announced that Troy Baker will appear in The Last of Us episode 8 as James, David’s second-in-command, and Shepherd. In addition to Ashley Johnson, who will play Ellie’s mother in an unspecified episode, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Baker is best known for being Joel’s original voice and motion-capture actor. Original Tommy actor Jeffrey Pierce also made an appearance as a new character.

It appears likely to be another Ramsey-centered story given how much of The Last of Us episode 8’s focus is on Ellie and how Pedro Pascal’s Joel is still on the verge of passing away. The tiredness Ramsey alludes to in her remarks will undoubtedly be understood by those who are familiar with the games, but because it is uncertain how season 1 will go, it will be intriguing to watch if the episode closes on a dramatic cliffhanger that sends Joel on the attack. Only time will tell when The Last of Us episode 8 airs on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday.
