Is Eminem Celebrating his Journey to Sobriety?

What drugs Eminem was on and how he completed 12-years milestone is doing the rounds now. The 47-year-old Rapper Eminem, real name, Marshall Bruce Mathers III has recently shared on twitter “Clean dozen, in the books! I’m not afraid.”

Eminem addiction to drugs in the pas is well known to everyone. He himself has been very vocal about his battles with drug addiction. The artist once admitted that he was taking up to 30 Vicodin and near about 40 to 60 Valium a day.

The artist, during the documentary, How to Make Money Selling Drugs, quoted “I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more.” Also, during the production of 8 Mile, he was diagnosed with Insomnia and worked 16 hours a day. 

He said “People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say, ‘Get that f***ing person outta here.’ I’m not out there shooting heroin. I’m not out there f***ing putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack.”

Eminem’s Addiction to Drugs

He was introduced to a sedative, Ambien, by one of his friends, which further lead to a chain of other prescribed pills. In 2007, Eminem overdosed on Methadone (a substitute drug used in the treatment of morphine and heroin addiction) and was at his lowest.

In an interview with MTV, he said “The doctors told me I’d done the equivalent of four bags of heroin… Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. ” My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything.”They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death.”

Eminem’s drug addiction started to take a toll on his health and he realised how difficult was his journey to recovery going to be.

Eminem’s Twelve Years of Sobriety

Eminem has now been sober for continuous 12 years. His sobriety journey started when he felt the need to look after his kids and how he wanted to be with them, spend time with them and see them grow beautifully.

It certainly has been a tough journey for him and his family, but he was mentored by Elton John who checked on him weekly and motivated him throughout his journey. He played a major role in Eminem’s sobriety.  His story is quite fascinating and an example for many. 

He finally came out as a winner in real life. He is now an epitome of strength and persistence.
