Spiderman, one of the most frightening superheroes would not be considered for this list for a long time. In The Amazing Spider-Man Annual (2014)there is something that Spiderman has done. This created a sense of fear into the hearts of criminals because Spidey has been suffering under the circumstances.
The Amazing Spider-Man Annual has a short story, “The Quiet Room”. In this short story, a committee of small but super-criminals use a room that is bereft of noise to open a gateway to the multiverse. They work together and meanwhile, a few criminals have a discussion on the reflection of the biological order of the world.
One of the villains, Shrunken Bones, says that as long as heroes act as heroes and villains as villains, he is satisfied with everything. The other villain i.e. Ruby Thursday agrees and adds that as long as Spiderman will be cracking jokes, the world will be okay. At the same moment, Spiderman arrives but surprisingly, he is not gagging and he is not talking.
Spiderman is known not only for being a superhero but for cracking jokes throughout the situations. This diverts him from the most dangerous risk-taking situations. This also detracts his foes which makes it manageable for him to battle. His jokes are part of his character. But why is he not joking in Amazing Spider-Man Annual?
He fails to joke only when he is furious or has had an enormous loss. The criminals on the other side get worried about Spiderman’s unwanted behaviour. They try to mess with him again.
Spiderman Feels Sick
The truth is revealed when an agent of SHIELD thanks Spiderman for his efforts of controlling his behaviour. Spiderman nods back while whispering which could not be heard by the Shield’s agent.
Spiderman apologizes as he is sick with laryngitis. He would not want to take this serious attitude for the purpose of justice. He tries to rest his voice while doing so.
His behaviour boosts his upbeat and optimistic temperament.
