Universal Parks & Resorts have announced today that they are planning to open Universal Orlando Resort. The resort will be opened in a phased manner. Universal Studios Orlando has also released some guidelines about the changes that one might see. The guidelines will include some new and modified health, safety, and hygiene practices. These guidelines will be based on the guidelines issued by the CDC and other health officials. Universal Studios Orlando has collaborated with Orange County Mayor Jerry Deming’s Economic Recovery Task Force to reopen their resort. The effort has been supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Universal Studios Orlando had to be closed on March 16. Universal Studios Orlando had planned to reopen it much earlier by April 16th but that couldn’t happen due to the virus spreading. And just like Universal Studios Orlando, Disney World and Disneyland were also closed by March 12th. However, after issuing new health and safety practices, Universal CityWalk Orlando had also started its reopening on May 14th.
Universal Studios Reopening Guidelines
All the health and safety guidelines have been issued by Universal Orlando Resort in advance. In a press release by Universal, they revealed the procedure that will be undertaken in reopening the resort. It will consist of three areas: Screening, Spacing, and Sanitation. It will be necessary for everyone, from guests to employees to wear a mask or a face cover and to maintain social distancing. Also, the temperature of every guest and employee will be checked before letting them enter the park. Anyone whose temperature will be at or higher than 100.4 will not be allowed to enter the park.
Within the next few weeks, everyone will be watching over the activities of Universal Studios. Even with all these social distancing practices and health and safety guidelines, it’s still risky to be in a densely packed theme park. At the end of the day, the decision and responsibility will be only of the visitor alone.
