The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017), starring Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder, is horror fiction. The story revolves around two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore settling back in their hometown, Mystic Falls. They both eventually fall in love with a high school teenager, Elena. The show has received immense popularity among teenagers around the globe.

Prowling around the nights in search of their prey, The Vampire Diaries gives us everything we need to know about these blood-drinking creatures. Along with having strong senses and being terribly fast, vampires also have the ability to turn off their humanity when there are too many emotions to handle. Of course, one cannot forgive themselves when killing the innocents is the only means of survival!
Apart from the vampires, we also come across werewolves, witches, hybrids, Silas (the immortal witch), the originals, Gemini Coven and many more supernatural beings. So, it’s not all about vampires. It’s about the enemies they fight off their lists every day.
LOVE FOR THE SALVATORE
Damon and Stefan Salvatore steal the hearts of teenagers with their charm, incredible performance, and the brotherly conflict. But the love among them remains solid. Stefan Salvatore takes your breath away in the Pilot episode. With the tag of ‘Good Brother’, Elena falls in love with him which turns out into a serious relationship. Stefan is the ideal love we crave for. On the other hand, Damon Salvatore is portrayed as a negative character at first, but later, his ‘good face behind the worst’ makes us love him more. Although their love for Katherine in the past and Elena in the present may last in vampire brawls, still the two brothers remain far from hating each other.
THE ‘KIND ELENA’ AND ‘ECCENTRIC KATHERINE’
The perfect love of the high -school brats, Elena Gilbert, makes us feel remorse over her grief and pain throughout the series. We love her for her honesty, loyalty and changing the worst in people. But the evil doppelganger, Katherine, remains all set to take revenge. Katherine, in her own games and actions, loses the sight of the good and bad and therefore, is not capable of being admired. But the fans admire her for being the crazy, arrogant antagonist. After all, what is a teenage drama without the evil nightmare!
THE WITCHY WOO-HOOS
The loyal witch Bonnie Bennett always comes to the rescue when the vampires ‘goof-up’. With an amazing history of witches in the town of Mystic Falls, they surely make us go through goosebumps with some terrific and magical woo-hoos. Witchy craft has something unique about it which makes all the enemies give up at some point in time. They might tear you apart, but that doesn’t stop the vampires to take advantage of the witchy craft.
THE ORIGINALS
Klaus Mikaelson is the villain stealing our hearts. Being a hybrid, he always has a rough patch with other vampires but behind the face of violence, lies the soft-hearted man. His siblings, Rebekah, Elijah, and Kol change the meaning of terror when they enter season 3 of the show. Being the most powerful vampires, they might make you hate them. Hence, they can’t be killed too easily!
The Vampire Diaries’ spin-off- The Originals came up with the same characters with a different storyline in 2013. With 5 hit seasons, the show has gained popularity in all aspects. The legacy of these two hit shows is being carried on by ‘The Legacies’ starring, Matthew Davis and Danielle Rose Russell.
