DC has given competitive enemies like Tartarus to Justice League over the years. Audiences have seen Darkseid, Ares, and Wonder Woman along with her allies on many occasions.
Another monstrous hero is disclosed who breaks into Themyscira to uncover Jim Corrigan. He is a Greek God. This God proves to be the first God of Hell in Justice League #46. He is Tartarus.
With the Spectre’s significance violating the League, they feel the influential entity is losing its mortal host. They channel Jim to Themyscira. They realized that he wants to be concealed in Tartarus, i.e land of the dead. As they fall onto the illicit Paradise Island, Hippolyta and the Amazons intersect the League, stamping Diana as a traitor. It gets brutal. Spectre’s impact of revenge even induces the Amazon fighters to start protesting each other.
The Greek God Is Tortured
John Stewart stays back. He uses his Green Lantern strengths to restrain them. This enables Wonder Woman to direct her backers to the entrances of Tartarus. Shockingly, the guards are dead. As they arrive, Diana concedes she doesn’t recognize anything beyond this. Flash paces ahead and discovers a shattered Jim. Jim acknowledges that while he’s been skipping the real world, it feels like he’s been imprisoned for eternity. The heroes try to protect him and suddenly Tartarus emerges.
Diana breaks the ancient seal and makes it clear that he is free now as he has been seen in chains. He is the length of a Titan so it seems he formed as one of the Titans. In Greek mythology, Tartarus is a God with Chaos. The world of the dead is seen in his space.
DC decided to not utilize his realm anymore and to bring Titan to life. Tartarus certainly has a voracious hunger. His bruised body demonstrates he has been harassed and tortured.
