Ai-powered Eye Feature Microsoft Surface Pro X Technology

Ai-powered Eye Feature By Microsoft Will Come Soon In Surface Pro X

AI-powered “eye contact” feature by Microsoft is starting to roll out for Surface Pro X. It has happened months after it was announced originally for the ARM-powered Surface laptop last year.

This new characteristic is now a part of Windows 10 insider Preview Build 20175. This means that it is not far away from the release worldwide.

If Microsoft is to be believed, the new feature actually relies on “artificial intelligence capabilities of the Microsoft SQ1 processor”. This would adjust where the eyes are looking during a video call or char. It would make sure that there will always be eye contact with the camera, even if the lens is off to the side. When the lens would open, the eye contact correction would happen automatically. Though this feature by Microsoft will only work if the Surface Pro X is in the landscape mode.

The Feature Will Not Be Available For Regular Computers

During an interview with VentureBeat indicated that this new technology is involving the unique capabilities of AI. It has AI capabilities of the ARM-based SQ1 processor. The processor enabled the feature on Surface X. This clearly means that this will not be available on regular x86 Windows computers. Because there type of processing that works there, but draws too much power.

If this is true and sounds familiar, this is because Microsoft is no longer the only company that is working on AI-corrected gazes. Apple has already been working on the same feature. Apple, since long has been working on the “FaceTime Attention Correction” feature. It’s been long since this has been happening. With early versions of the function, it was shown in iOS13 betas last year before being pulled for a final release.

iOS 14 of Apple does not list the feature though. But it is clear that iPhone and iPad users will not have to wait for very long. They will be free from paying fake attention during long FaceTime calls.
