Six new episodes will be added to The Walking Dead season 10. The newly added episodes will start airing from the beginning of next year. The regular schedule of The Walking Dead season 10 was disturbed because of the pandemic due to restrictions on the production. Thus, AMC has delayed the finale from April to October.
The question about season 11 is expected to rise just after the airing of The Walking Dead season 10. It is rumored that the season will be following the pattern of releasing half of the season in October. And the rest of the episodes will be aired in February. Because of the work delayed, The Walking Dead will not be able to film for season 11 during the premiere of season 10. Though, this really does not mean that new episodes will be taking a full year.
Will New Episodes Be Following Another Season?
Showrunner Angela Kang has announced during The Walking Dead’s virtual panel that season 10 will be having 6 additional episodes. These episodes are tentatively scheduled for 2021. The decision has come after the team that is unable to shoot for season 11 because of restrictions due to coronavirus. However, the writer’s room has started working remotely. This is the result of an additional 6 episodes. It will serve as an extension to season 10 instead of the new season i.e. The Walking Dead season 11.
Kang has explained that these mew episodes still follow”A Certain Doom”. It’s like these 6 episodes are the ones that one planned for season 11. These episodes will focus on one plot than another. The scheduling may focus on the characters who have survived Beta’s incoming attack. This would also focus on the exploration of Maggie’s return. In all, these episodes will be about exciting things from season 11.
The current plans are tentative. The production might start but no official announcement has been made. There is still hope that The Walking Dead would add these episodes in the first quarter of 2021.
