Disputes Between Amazon And WarnerMedia Still Follow The Same Route

Amazon and WarnerMedia have been in disputes over HBO Max for a long time now. CEO of WarnerMedia, Jason Kilar, seems to put pressure on the tech giant to make agreements regarding the same.

During an interview with Bloomberg, Kilar talked about the business model of Amazon. He said that the issue of the company with HBO Max is contrary to the principle belief of Amazon. If the company “were truly focused just on the consumers,” with the Fire devices, “HBO Max would be on Fire devices.”

Kilar has gone deep into the reasons. HBO Max came at the end of April. Amazon has to put the viewers on its device by the end of the holidays.

Consumers who like to have HBO Max on their streaming equipment will peek for options, including Google Chromecast and Apple TV. HBO Max is currently available here. “As we head into the fourth quarter when gift-giving happens, it becomes a more material situation for a seller of hardware,” Kilar said.

Over the last few months, the relationship between Amazon and WarnerMedia has become tenuous. As part of WarnerMedia’s mainline of various streaming platforms, the company declared it would sunset the HBO Go app on August 1st.

HBO Now turns To HBO

WarnerMedia has mentioned that the HBO Now the app will be HBO. There were zero plans for Amazon carrying HBO Now on Fire TV till 1st August. But later, WarnerMedia and Amazon have an agreement that allows the customers to use the renamed HBO app.

According to Variety, Amazon furthermore told customers that they “can continue watching HBO content on Amazon devices with an HBO subscription via Prime Video Channels.”

It seems as if Kilar and WarnerMedia like to have nothing but to force people to watch another streaming platform on Fire TV. There is a contradictory phase between both. Amazon feels the major aggregator thus believes that it has an upper hand in the living rooms. But as a content provider, WarnerMedia feels consumers will jump to other platforms for exclusive content.

While the dispute between WarnerMedia and Amazon will go on. But people on the other hand will suffer. Viewers who want to watch Perry Mason and Lovecraft Country (HBO) on Fire TV will have to suffer.
