Captain Marvel 2 is all set to evade the problems Carol Danvers faced due to her powers and origin. She has become the Superman of MCU. Brie Larson became a part of Marvel Studios in 2016. It was only after 3 years that the fans were able to view her on the big screen as a new woman superhero. She was introduced as Carol Danvers at the San Diego comic fun. Shortly she also presented herself in Avengers: Endgame just two months later and engraved her performance in the hearts of the fans.
However, Carol Danvers can still improve her performance as a superhero in Captain Marvel 2. She has been newly introduced. She is powerful among all as said by Kevin Fiege. It is difficult to establish a threat to her and make a story otherwise. Unlike DC, Superman is still scared of Kryptonite but Captain Marvel is just so strong!
Captain Marvel 2 is ready to be taken up. Megan McDonnell is the writer. Lately, Candyman’s Nia DaCosta is hired as the director. The details of the movie have not been provided yet.
Her Powers are held back by the MCU
There is no doubt that Captain Marvel is so powerful. But she has been held back by the MCU with the improper portrayal. Many instances showcase her immense power. She solely destroyed the Kree fleet in Captain Marvel, Thanos’s mothership in the Avengers Endgame, and overpowered Thanos which even Hulk could not do.
At her strongest, she becomes invincible and becomes a wrecking crew all by herself.
Her powers have led to manufacturing ways to lessen them. The chip on her neck installed by Kree made him control her power to a certain limit and even null them. She got rid of the chip in Captain Marvel. To support the Endgame narrative she was sent to space. She only returned at the end of the final war. Both the ways, she was curtailed from being the prominent hero as she is.
The Origin movie bogged her down
MCU has come up with many origin movies. To define the origin of Captain Marvel, MCU had to deal with Carol’s story falling short of her powers. Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and Iron Man had somewhat similar stories. Captain Marvel had much from Captain America: The First Avenger. Her origin story came in 1995. The fans could not view something too big as they already knew what is that MCU holds in the next 20 years.
It is difficult to pull off origin stories. The heroes are powerless at first and develop them eventually. Ant-Man, Thor suffered the same fate. However, Spider-Man and Black Panther were properly exhibited. Captain Marvel was somewhat held back and didn’t end with the proper characterization of her powers.
According to Marvel, her story was different from others. She spent the whole movie discovering herself while Kree manipulated her memories. The bold hero personality that she had in the Endgame was not even close to what she has in her original movie.
The Sequel to solve the problems
Captain Marvel 2 has loosened these problems. Now that Marvel has discovered her true self by wandering different galaxies in 30 years. This is a new opportunity where Marvel could actually portray her powers unless McDonnell and Kevin take her chance away. The focus of the story would be to develop her further and still discover what she did between 1995 and 2018. It could be a significant step in advancing her story. Now there cannot be much conflict between Marvel and Captain Marvel 2 in establishing her story in any direction they want.
The story will be set in the present day. It has to bring a balance between her interests between Earth and space. To portray her heroics it is better if the story should involve cosmic adventures. It should also include Earth creatures like Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau.
