Schitt’s Creek ended after a long run of 6 years but unlike many who actually say that they are going to miss their character especially after playing it for such a long time, Annie Murphy says she wants to distance herself from the character. Here’s why.
Schitt’s Creek is a Canadian sitcom, which is also available on the streaming platform Netflix and has been a fan favorite for a very long haul. Fans were always excited to watch the story of an extravagantly rich married couple, who suddenly goes bankrupt and all they have remaining for them after all their assets are free zed is an ugly and out-of-city small town named ‘Schitt’s Creek’.
The Rose family (who are the front and center of the show) is played by Johnny Rose (aka Eugene Levy), Moira Rose (aka Catherine O’Hara), David Rose (aka Daniel Levy), and Alexis Rose (aka Annie Murphy). Though the series was a huge success and the characters started being everyone’s favorite, Annie who played the character of Alexis now wants to distance herself from the show, and here’s why.

Why Annie Murphy Wants To Move On From Alexis Rose?
In a recent interview given to ‘The Zoe Report’, Schitt’s creek alum stated her reasons so as to why she doesn’t want to get off on her ‘Alexis’ character anymore now because it just makes her remember her past and how difficult it was.
The character of Alexis earned her all the laurels and applauds from all over the world, it even won her the Emmy award for her role of Alexis and everyone praised her work. But that’s just one side of the story when she got the role of Alexis, but before that, her life wasn’t like all sunshine and rainbows. She said that pursuing the storyline of Schitt’s Creek was mind-numbing and caused anxiety and brought back the memories of her struggle days.
She said
“I have started to sweat just thinking about how anxious it makes me. Even though I was coming off the huge and mind-bending success of Schitt’s Creek, I still had the very vivid memory of my life before Schitt’s Creek, when I wasn’t getting any work at all”. She also added “It was very clear that people wanted to see me as Alexis, or they’d say ‘Oh, it’s definitely not Alexis. She has brown hair this time”.
Continuing she added,
“It was really, really important to me to do something as far away from Alexis as possible, even as just a challenge for myself to see if I could do something else after doing one very specific thing and succeeding”.
Annie is presently playing the role of a fed-up housewife named Allison McRoberts, who is struggling to leave behind her life in which she accidentally stepped in. She is taking drastic actions one after another in order to survive and proceed towards new beginnings. Apparently, this change-over must have been very much needed and that is why she decided to go for it.
