Magneto and Polaris despite being a father and daughter duo and having similar powers are quite different from each other.
Magneto shares quite a controversial relationship with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. They despite being the most famous of his children, they are not the only offspring of the Master of Magnetism. Although Lorna Dane (Polaris) and her father possess the same powers they still have a detached relationship. Their relationship came to light in X-Factor #1, where Magneto is unable to explain anything about his daughter.
The X-Factor Investigations’ concept returns with the First issue of the title. In this particular case, the team deals with Aurora’s case (NorthStar’s sister), as she can only return to life once her death is confirmed. The story concludes with the Magneto congratulating Lorna for his job with the caveat. Magneto explains it to his daughter that since she is his daughter, she has an additional degree of expectation from her part.
Master of Magnetism didn’t know much about Polaris
Polaris then asks her father to explain more about her personality and character. Since the Master of Magnetism wasn’t ready for such a question. He became extremely quit. And this showed how little did he know about his daughter, Lorna. However, Polaris wasn’t very surprised by her father’s response as she herself knew nothing about her own self. In an attempt to make the aura of the moment normal and to reconcile his lack of awareness, Magneto asks Polaris to come for tea at M’s house, regularly. It looked like they both had more expectations from each other rather than closeness.
Magneto kidnapped his own daughter, Polaris
Lorna Polaris was for the first time featured in X-Men #49. However, she became a member-only in issue #60. When Magneto came to know about Polaris’ dormant powers, he kidnapped her. In the later part of the story, it was revealed that Polaris’ parents were killed in a plane crash that happened due to her powers’ manifestation when she was still a child. And, that the husband of her mother wasn’t Polaris biological father. Magneto claimed that he was an android and when the Master of Magnetism later met Lorna, he failed to recognize her.
At the start, both of them had a very limited relationship. She believed Magneto and whatever he does. She used to accompany him to places when he rules Genosha. However, she came to know about his dictatorial behavior and goals and left him. But later she somehow again met him and stayed by his side while he ruled Genosha. This again proved her genetics and that she was really Magneto’s daughter. After this news broke out in public, the citizens of Genosha accepted her as the princess of Genosha.
