While the DC Generations are engaged in a battle to save the DC Universe’s Space-Time Continuum, The Caped Crusader leaves the mission with a deadly weapon in his possession, and this mighty arsenal is going to be Batman’s new weapon in his fight. Most of DC’s iconic characters made their debut in the 1930s and 1940s, and DC’s sacred storyline introduced a lot of heroes during this Golden Age.
These characters remain in their Physical Prime, continuing to march further ahead, performing their duties and entertaining different generations of readers. Needless to say, Batman, one of DC’s crown jewel, is among these legendary heroes. However, Batman is probably the only hero who has maintained an awareness of the universes and realities that came before him. This was primarily a result of the fact that he kept a letter which was written by his father during an alternate reality of the Flashpoint.
Batman kept this letter in the Batcave throughout the New 52 era until the DC Rebirth began. And as a Golden Age vision of the Dark Knight helps the heroes in protecting the space-time continuum in a generation, he leaves with one of the DCU’s most deadly arsenal and Batman’s new weapon is none other than a “Time Band”. A time band being Batman’s new weapon changes a lot of things.
The Ultimate Battle And An Epic Conclusion
An older version of the hero Booster Gold assembled the heroes of Generations in order to protect the numerous fractured timelines and realities from the Heinous villain Dominus. Batman was among the few heroes who witnessed the reality wrapping effects of Dominus’ machinations when his present-day crusade through Gotham City was unexpectedly transformed into 1939. During this astonishing turn of events, he lost all his present-day memories until he was recruited to join the time-traveling team.
After they defeated the enemy and successfully claimed victory for themselves, the Waverider and Booster Gold decide to give Batman one of their spare time-bands while “why only to him” was revealed later in the story. Characters like Batman and Superman are updated over time while Justice Society of America heroes like Jay Garrick and Alan Scott visibly age because Bruce and Clark are figured in what Waverider refers to as the Linearverse.
These pillars retain their Youth and Vitality for decades, going further on Doomsday Clock’s ideas about time distortion. While Superman gets rebooted with each apocalyptic event, the world and characters around him do too. Even though The Dark Knight was not a much-focused individual as a part of DCU’s meta-textual reality, an in-continuity reason for him keeping up with Superman decades after their debut was explained by the Waverider.
Batman’s Future
With Batman’s new weapon, he can now travel to any point in the DC’s altering timeline. Upon his return after the battle, he is warned by the Waverider about using his new weapon. The Waverider suggests that Batman’s new weapon should only be used as a last resort as a true crisis is coming for the DCU which would require his contribution and his latest weapon to resolve, leaving him perplexed.
The time bands were a vital tool used to travel through time and space by a number of heroes and villains in the arrowverse. Dominus nearly turned history upside down across multiple timelines and to think that something worse could happen is an overstatement, however, an even worse threat was arriving, as stated by the Waverider. Armed with a time-band, Batman needs to be prepared for something far worse on the horizon.
