Batgirl #48 came up on Tuesday. It revealed the aftermath of the dark confrontation of Batgirl and Joker in Batgirl #47 the implant of Batgirl that had given her mobility in her legs was ripped out in the earlier issue.
However, in Nightwing #71 and #72, readers have seen a Gordon on her feet that was captured by the Joker. These left the confusion about the events between Joker and B-girl. Here is the outline for Barbara Gordon in the Joker War.
Bruce Wayne lost his resources as Joker has taken all his money, toys and started controlling Gotham City. Joker is all set to destroy him once and for all. He is even using secret identities against Batman’s family. Joker War by James Tynion IV and Jorge Jimenez started officially in Batman #95. It happened after the events of Their Dark Designs.
The writer of the Batgirl, Cecil Castellucci has revealed something in an interview with Newsarama. She revealed that he did not actually talk to other writers who are involved in the Joker War, except her editor. The editor has edited Nightwing. Castellucci says,
“So I never talked to any of the other writers. I talked with my editor Jessica Chen (who also edits Nightwing) and with artist Robbi Rodriguez. I knew that the Joker was going to come over and knock on her door looking for something. And I thought that was a real opportunity to address Batgirl and Joker’s history. So for me, it was more important to keep it insular and really make sure that the her team was directly referencing Batman: The Killing Joke, but from an empowered point of view.”
James Tynion Explains The Events Of Batman #47
Batgirl #47 happened before the events of Batman #95 according to the writer James Tynion. He has mentioned this in a tweet. B-girl #47 is seen as a precursor to the Joker War Events.
Batgirl #50, which will be the sequel conclusion of B-girl, will concentrate on the consequence of the Joker War. This gives up on the events of Nightwing #71 and #72 and the remainder of Joker War someplace between the story occurring in Batgirl #47 and Batgirl #50. Tynion IV has said that the straight order of the comics do not pertain at this point of Joker War, but will be crucial in future issues.
While this narrative is confusing at first, the expressive highlights of the current B-girl story, precisely B-girl #47, have been on par with the vigor of Joker War. This B-girl tale will tie concurrently the loose ends of the cycle, like the family confrontation of the Gordons and love-interest Jason Bard. The incidents of The Killing Joke have been stroked upon in recent years, but not to the degree shown in B-girl #47. Barbara Gordon has a varied connection with the Joker, and this tale is well-timed with the Three Jokers. Barbara Gordon is entitled to a strong ending to a series that has progressed its stride.
Batgirl #49 will be out on September 22nd.
