Call Of Duty Takes Extra Measures Against Racism & Toxicity

Call Of Duty is a ‘1st person shooter video game franchise published by ‘Activision’. Starting in 2003, the games were first set in ‘World War 2’ times, but then from there, they moved on to various Cold Wars, Futuristic worlds, and even Outer Space. Recently, the Activision franchise has promised a better and healthier community for ‘Call of Duty, confirming that they banned around 350k players for racism and toxicity.

CALL OF DUTY: BACKGROUND

Making efforts to clean out, the franchise is actually taking a lot of strict measures to tackle toxicity and banish racism, something’s that’s very common and deeply rooted in the player’s base for a very long time now. Back in the days of X-Box 360, many modes of the game enabled players to chat and converse with each other but that’s where you heard from all the bullying to uncontrolled sexist comments. In some people’s opinion, those were the golden days because that’s what made ‘Call Of Duty’ this good and different from others but the franchise itself has had a change of heart and they want to upgrade their reputation.

CALL OF DUTY: CHANGE OF HEART

The franchises is actually taking strict actions and not just saying these things for the sake of it. They even fired a ‘Call of Duty’ actor for not behaving properly and saying hateful comments to other members of the community. The actor ‘Jack Leach’ who played the role of ‘Ghost’ was a very popular character and was expected to see in ‘Modern Warfare’ but apparently, he’s now being replaced. Even after the actor apologized for his behavior, Activision is very firm and is not breaking a sweat.

The franchise’s ‘zero-tolerance policy will continue to be at work and it was recently noted that they banned over 350k players for being out of control with the kind of words they use, being racist, and adding to the level of toxic behavior. More updates and additions will be incorporated so that the game doesn’t lose its charm. Activision though has promised to continue with this piece of work because they know it’ll take time to create the kind of environment they want to associate their franchise with. Whether they’ll be successful or not is a question to be answered a little later but the act that forced Activision to evaluate them was after the spike in BLM cases last summer.

CALL OF DUTY CHANGE OF HEART

It’s very clear that the company has had a change of heart and is striving continuously to make the game into a better version of what it is right now.  Obviously, it’s a long shot and will take time before they see ‘Sunshine’s and Rainbows’ but the franchises are not seeing it as a lost cause. Given its massive reach (obviously, it has a huge fan base) their efforts to spread positivity and calmness in the community for making it into a better version of itself are an amazing initiative.
