Can Darkseid defeat Galactus?

Who can defeat Galactus? Marvel and DC crossovers are always something to look forward to. We have seen Superman vs the Amazing Spider-Man. And the title alone is capable of igniting the urge to know more about the story, not just for comic fans but also for the cinematic fans. But what happens when two supervillains/gods, one from Marvel and one from DC, come face to face?

Let’s first understand the characters before we analyse whether Darkseid can defeat Galactus or not.

Galactus

By definition, Galactus is the first and the oldest living cosmic entity in the Marvel Universe. Galactus consumes planets that have the potential to support life. So, his existence directly leads to the extinction of civilizations. When Galactus comes to Darkseid’s planet, Apocalypse, in Darkseid vs Galactus: The Hunger, he is there for the same purpose.

Is Darkseid stronger than Galactus?

One of the most powerful entities in the DC Universe, Darkseid is the most evil. Can Darkseid defeat Galactus, the answer to this might not be out there, but he definitely is more evil than Galactus. When Silver Surfer leads Galactus to Apocalypse to consume it, Darkseid fights him with full force. In the process, Galactus wipes out all the beings on the planet. At the very end, Darkseid reveals that his planet does not even have the potential to support life! He could have revealed this fact in the beginning and saved millions of lives. But he chose not to. Just to see the look on Galactus’ face. So even though Galactus defeated Darkseid in Darkseid vs Galactus: The Hunger, he proved that he is the most evil entity in the two universes, Marvel and DC.

Now, coming back to the question:

Can Darkseid beat Galactus?

The internet, along with author and illustrator John Byrne, believe Darkseid can never defeat Galactus. Undoubtedly and naturally, the Marvel fans’ feelings are vested in their god, Galactus. But the face-off between the two, contrary to what is depicted in the comic book, cannot be so one-sided. Yes, Galactus is extremely powerful. And yes, no one can do much damage to Galactus. But no, Darkseid cannot leave him unscratched. Darkseid is powerful enough to leave an impact on Galactus. So much so that Galactus would accept him as a threat.
