Exploring the details about Captain America’s mission to return the Infinity Stones to the past could endanger Avengers: Endgame’s ending
Avengers: Endgame was a legendary crossover event in the MCU or perhaps the greatest crossover event in history. Witnessing 10 years of the story concludes in a single movie and seeing all the heroes coming together, joining forces to defeat the Mad Titan Thanos was truly an exceptional feat. Avenger: Endgame’s Time Heist gave Steve a brief look at Peggy Carter in the past, resulting in all the buried desires and dreams resurfacing once again and that’s where he’s ending took him. We know Captain America took the responsibility to return the infinity stones to the past in order to fulfill Hulk’s promise to the Ancient One and prevent creating alternative timelines. At the end of that mission, Steve decides to retire from his superhero life and live as a normal couple with Peggy in the past. The Paradox
During the Avengers’ Time Heist, the Ancient One agreed to lend the Time Stone to the Hulk on one condition that he would return the Time Stone back to the same time that it left in order to prevent branching in the main timeline. When Steve returned to Peggy and started a family with her, he must have altered the timeline, creating a new one where Peggy was his wife.

Everything would only go back to normal if Steve returns to his original timeline after his mission, living unhappily alone.
