There may be a possibility that The Eternals can bring back Captain America in his prime
Captain America, Avengers: Endgame brought a lot of heartbreaks along with it. The victory came at a really high price and a whole lot of our favorite superheroes laid down their lives in order to defeat Thanos. While Black Widow and Iron Man gave up their lives for the cause, the fans also lost Chris Evans’ Captain America when he said his goodbye to the MCU. Steve Rogers went into the past to return the infinity stones to the moments they were taken by the Avengers, thereby preventing any sort of ripple effect to the timeline.
During his quest, he decides to live the life he always wanted, a life with his love, Peggy Carter, and so that’s what he did. He stayed back in the past and lived with Peggy Carter and grew old with her. At the climax, it was revealed that Captain America decided to retire and passed on the mantle and shield to Sam Wilson, The Flacon, but now there might be a slight chance that the Eternals can bring back Chris’s Captain America as his younger self. Recently it was also revealed that Marvel Studios and Chris were considering a deal that would allow the actor to reprise his role as Captain America.
How This Can Work
Since the release of Avengers: Endgame, fans have excitedly discussed the possibilities of how their favorite characters can return in the MCU and the topmost fan theory is through Time Travel. Since time travel is now possible in the MCU, it is certainly a possibility that it would be used to bring back fallen heroes. However, there might be a very logical way in which He could come back with the help of the Eternals. In Marvel Comics, the Eternals are capable of transmutation, which means they can reshape matter. That includes turning humans into animals and altering the physical properties of objects. Sersi, one of the Eternals, excels in changing a person’s age at will.
This has actually happened in the comics where Sersi turned Steve into a teenager upon his own request. He did this in order to blend in among other children for the sake of a mission. Steve acknowledged that what Sersi did wasn’t a disguise or an illusion, she actually reconstructed his molecules to turn him into a teenager. The transmutation ability has already been introduced in the MCU through WandaVision and so it’s likely going to be an important thing in the future. Unlike reviving Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man which is likely to be only possible through time travel which is a far cry from what the MCU generally does, reviving Chris’s Captain America would be easy and fun.
It remains to be seen how and why old Steve Roger would decide to take up Captain America’s mantle but it can be expected that he will make this choice in order to join the fight against a powerful foe like Kang The Conqueror or Galactus. No doubt whichever way this happens, the fans would definitely love to have their favorite superhero back once again.
