Parks and Recreation introduced one of the most iconic characters Andy Dwyer played by Chris Pratt. And it’s hard to imagine the show without him but that has almost happened.
Parks and Recreation is one of America’s greatest political satires. Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur. The series had begun airing in 2009. Parks and Recreation entertained its fans for seven seasons and introduced us to some of the most memorable characters and one of them was Chris Pratt who is known for playing Andy Dwyer. But do you know Chris wasn’t supposed to be the main character?

Chris Pratt is popular for becoming the face of Guardians of the Galaxy film, Jurassic World, and many more. But Parks and Recreations’ Andy Dwyer was his breakout role. Andy Dwyer’s character was everyone’s favourite from the very first episode. Later he became one of the most important cast members.
He was introduced as Ann Perkin’s boyfriend—the one who broke both of his legs in an accident. His silly and funny personality made him different from everyone else on the show.
A Guest Star Turned Into The Main Character:
For those who aren’t aware Chris Pratt was originally signed on Parks and Recreation as a guest star. However, he later became an asset to the show’s storyline. Yes, you read it right! Pratt was supposed to be on the show for only six episodes in season 1, but fans love his character and the makers promoted him as a main cast member. Over the next few years, Andy’s character and storyline developed.
Not only viewers but the makers of the show were also impressed by Pratt’s presence. He made a mark on everyone during the casting process.
During an interview, Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang revealed that Chris Pratt has always been a likable guy. Alan Yang said “He’s just possibly the most charismatic and nicest person I’ve ever met—that’s not even hyperbole. Everyone who meets him loves him…I was talking to some random person who was like, oh you write for Parks and Rec? I went to high school with Chris Pratt…Everyone loved him. We’re all rooting for him. So he’s just been the most likable guy for his entire life”
