David Lynch had directed the movie Dune based on the same novel. He is asked about the project that he has immensely enjoyed and feels proud of the same. David Lynch talks about the projects that he is part of. And he is proud of all the works but not Dune. Dune was directed by him, it is a 1984 film. He is a filmmaker who has distinct values along with his stories and visuals. This is apparent in his Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet. Despite his visuals and techniques, Dune is the adaptation of a sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. The movie is criticized a lot and has faced many issues while filming it and during the reception of the film.
During an interview on YouTube with David Lynch Theatre, one fan asks him about his project that he is most proud of. Lynch has always shown his disappointment about Dune. How he has been stopped to say about the failure of the film. It is not shocking when it comes to accepting what David Lynch said about Dune. he said he is ‘proud of everything, except Dune.”
After 35 years of the release of Dune, Denis Villeneuve is ready to try his hands at the same. The adaptation, though, was fairly well-received, but it’s not repeatedly talked about. Villeneuve has already substantiated that he can successfully deal with adapting substance with the cult masterpiece status.
Director Is Not Interested in Upcoming Adaptation
However, Lynch has made it very clear that he does not have any sort of interest in the upcoming adaptation of the Dune because of his own history with the film.
The upcoming adaptation of the film stars Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and many others. The film is said to not draw many of the scenes from Lynch’s directed film in anyways.
The first look of Timothée Chalamet and the official logo of the film has already been released. It is ready for re-filming certain shoots in August in Hungary. The current date that is making noise for the release of Dune is 18, December 2020. Let’s see if this fills the void made by Lynch’s film back in 1984.
