David F. Sandberg ‘s Shazam 2 title, a teaser trailer has quotes from the movie reviews. The frame has yet shot to be shot. The first Shazam! was also directed by Sandberg and it will make way for the upcoming and untitled sequel which is scheduled to release in 2022. The first movie’s success was a huge surprise for DC. As before it encountered many box office flops, the most famous flop being the Justice League. However, the movie’s lightweight and less dense nature has grabbed the eyes of many and it ended up being the few favorites.
Zachary Levi was the lead superhero in Shazam. He was Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) ally in the movie. Also, Mark Strong played the role of villain Dr. Sivana whereas Batson’s foster brother Freddy Freeman was portrayed by Dylan Grazer. It is a fascinating sequel as it establishes Batson’s foster siblings as superheroes at the time of the climactic battle. Unfortunately, the sequel couldn’t get complete due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, Sandberg is still enjoying the time with the viewers.
Sandberg has now released a surprise trailer for Shazam 2. The footage featured in it is from Shazam! whereas reviews are added from Shazam 2. The only issue is they haven’t shot it. It means all the reviews included therein are fake. They are all made up from the excitement of the movie. It also includes casual quotes saying, “I’m fine with this” and “David F. Sandberg is a sweetheart”.
David F. Sandberg posted on Twitter:
“We haven’t shot Shazam 2 yet but there are already reviews up on Letterboxd. I’m pretty sure that means we’re allowed to start using review quotes for marketing.”
Shazam 2 Title reveal
One interesting thing about the teaser is that the title used therein is Shazam!! and not Shazam 2. This will make you think the reason WHY? Maybe the sequel, Shazam 2 will add to it one more exclamation mark or maybe not. We aren’t sure. But we can still expect it to happen as what looks like from the trailer. However, the Swedish director hasn’t made any revelations about the sequel’s title. All these are just speculations.
The trailer reminds us of Sandberg’s sense of humor as a dry Scandinavian. And it also suits the character and was also one of the many reasons for the movie being a hit. Not anybody can do what Sandberg has done, posting fake reviews with some quotes from the previous movie. Also, this coming weekend, Sandberg will appear at DC FanDome. So, maybe we will get to hear some clear and actual news regarding Shazam 2. Hoping for the best.
