Ewan McGregor has disclosed that filming for the forthcoming Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi spin off will be starting shooting in March next year.
Production on the highly anticipated series was dragged back due to the COVID-19 but McGregor has now verified that there’s not too long until the filming begins for Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi Spin off.
While speaking on The Graham Norton Show about Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi Spin off, McGregor said: “It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose.”
“It’s not all me, but it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good! We start shooting it in March of next year.”
The actor earlier kidded that he’d like it if the as-yet-untitled sequel was called Hello There.
He said to ACE Universe, “That would be fun. That would get my vote. But we’ll see, I don’t know yet what it’s going to be called.”
McGregor will be duplicating his role of Obi-Wan in Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi Spin off, having first played the identity back in 1999 in The Phantom Menace, he joined for two sequels (Attack of the Clones in 2002 and Revenge of the Sith in 2005).
Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi Spin Off To Resume Filming In March
Earlier this year, the actor let slip that the Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi Spin off will most likely be a one-off. It will start filming again in March next year.
He told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m excited about it. It’s going to be great, I think.”
He added, “As I understand, it’s a standalone season. We’ll see. Who knows?”
McGregor is looking forward to playing the Jedi once again.
While speaking on the Empire Podcast, McGregor said, “I’m more excited about doing this one than I was doing the second and third one that we did before.”
“I’m just excited about working with [director] Deborah Chow, and the storylines are going to be good I think. I’m just excited to play him again. It’s been long enough since I played him before.”
