The Disney plus show, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be having only one season. Lucasfilm has still to confirm what is next for Star Wars. But the immediate future of the franchise is on the streaming platform only. After the success of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm is building new shows for Disney Plus. With the new seasons of The Mandalorian, Diego Luna will be returning for a Cassian Andor show. It will be a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. However, fans are more interested in Ewan McGregor’s return as the Jedi Master.
In 2019, Lucasfilm has announced McGregor’s return. It was done after ditching the plans for the Obi-Wan Kenobi film for the Disney Plus series. The series is supposed to have 6 episodes and many have wondered about the number of seasons earlier. The speculations were made after seeing Kenobi’s life between Star Wars: EpisodeIII and Star Wars: A New Hope. Changes have been made to the series for long. The number of episodes has been reduced. It has now come to 4 episodes as the script is re-written.
Lucasfilm Discussed The Future of Star Wars
The president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy has spoken to The Wrap about the fortune of Star Wars. She has revealed that the Obi-Wan series will be one season. While examining the significance of the series, she interpreted the show as a limited series.
“It’s been very exciting to see the talent that’s come in. And we’re now developing the limited Obi-Wan Kenobi series with Deborah Chow, and she’s just been doing a phenomenal job.”
This is actually a disappointment to many. As everyone was waiting to see McGregor as Obi-Wan. And they were excited to see him for many seasons. It will be of 4 episodes only.
The delay in the series will be making a different setting and story for the show. It could be a new hope. And also, the decision could also change if things turn out to be more than expected.
