Do Magic Keyboard and Trackpad Make iPad More Buyable?

Apple is planning to launch its new Magic keyboard along with a trackpad in iPad, as announced by the company last month. The weight of the accessory has not been revealed by the company. But, according to MacRumours forum poster, the magic keyboard along with the iPad Pro weighs 3 pounds. It weighs more than 2.8 pounds for MacBook Air and the same 3 pounds for MacAir Pro.

The magic keyboard is all about its viewing angles and balance. Apple has not designed the iPad with keyboard and trackpad. Apple has added them later. The keyboard and trackpad, thus, adds to the weight of the iPad. The Magic Keyboard includes a floating cantilevered design which is good for viewing angles, which is not available with Smart Keyboard Folio. It is a backlit keyboard with scissor-switch keys and a trackpad.

Apple itself has said about the Magic  Keyboard and trackpad that it is having a “floating design with smooth angle adjustment.” The attachment with the iPad takes place with the help of magnets. The “unique cantilevered hinges” makes it possible for the keyboard to adjust to 130 degrees. Apple says, “our aim with iPad has always been to create a device so capable and so versatile it can become whatever you want it to be. And that versatility is built on the power of touch. But of course, we give you so many other ways to interact with your iPad, and sometimes you want to type. For typing, nothing beats the Magic Keyboard.”

It is sturdy for using it on the lap. The hinge of the Magic Keyboard is strong. Though, there is not so much in order to adjust the angles. It is easy to adjust the brightness via settings app but an option of automatic brightness control is also available. It seems it is better than the Smart Keyboard Folio. But except for weight, it cannot be compared to MacBook Air or Pro.

The Magic Keyboard/Trackpad is available on Apple’s official website.
