Dune is scheduled to release in December 2020. It is said to be one of the most influential sci-fi novels of the 20th century. It seems to be a tough movie where a lot of money has been spent. Warner Bros. and Legendary have spent a lot of money on the Dune money, which is considered to be the first part of the adaptations. There are big names that are involved even behind the camera.
Vanity fair has revealed the first look of the film that shows Paul Atreides who leaves his life of comfort and privilege. He leaves the comfortable life on the “oceanic world of Caladan” and faces dangers and adventures of Arrakis. It is said that the film could be released in December this year. “Dune was made by people from all over the world. Many of the people are like family to me, and they’re very much in my thought. I am so proud to showcase their hard work. I look forward to a time when we can all get together again as Dune is made to be seen on the big screen”, said by Villeneuve.
Chalamet also has given an insight about the journey of Paul in the Dune, while talking to Vanity fair. He says, he is on “an anti hero’s journey of sorts” and tells the idea of going to Arrakis in search of his father where he learns to be a leader, “before he comes of age, hopefully, a decade later or something like that”, he says. Dune is a “Star War” for adults, according to Villeneuve. According to many fans, Paul’s story and Dune Mythology have very much in common with The Lord of the Rings.
Looking forward at the crisis caused by the pandemic, December release is still a question. Though, Dune has wrapped up in summer. Post-production work is also pending. So, times will tell if the film gets its release in December.
