Is the Flash’s journey as a superhero about to end after season 7?
CW’s The Flash has been a great superhero show for the fans. the American superhero series developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, revolves around the story of Barry Allen, a CSI at CCPD who gains the power of superhuman speed. It premiered in 2014 and the pilot episode became the second most-watched premiere in the history of the CW. The show is currently on its seventh season and the show has already been renewed for another season. However, rumors have surfaced that the lead actor might be leaving the show after the seventh season.
The Root Of The Rumors
The rumors about Grant Gustin leaving the show started after his appearance on the “Inside of You” podcast with Michael Rosenbaum last April. Of course, he didn’t straight away say that he is quitting the show but he revealed that he regrets missing out on other theatre and movie opportunities because of The Flash.
He opened up about the unprecedented challenges he faced during the early seasons of the show and the heavy workload he endured in order to give his best to the character. “I’m very aware especially in certain moments of how lucky I am and how different things could have gone up until this point. There’s plenty of things that I feel like I’ve missed out on. For the past four hiatuses now, I’ve had a hiatus project that has fallen through because of The Flash. There’s a lot of other opportunities out there that have [gone away] because of scheduling conflicts” he said.
Grant told Michael that he very much wanted to leave the show after the second season but couldn’t because he was tied by the contract he signed. Season 7 is where his contract ends and therefore the CW is trying to convince Grant to continue his role as the Flash. News scooper Daniel Richtman recently claimed that the CW is willing to pay any amount of money to Grant in order to get him to sign another deal.
Grant Gustin And The Flash
Grant has always been very enthusiastic about his role as the Flash and the show is getting the place it deserves after a few unpopular seasons, therefore it is very likely that Grant would reconsider his past wish to leave the show and continue his run as the Scarlet Speedster. Since the show has been renewed for another season so Grant might just stick around unless the situation turns out like that of Batwoman season 2 and Grant is replaced with another character.
It has also been reported that Jordan Fisher is going to appear later this season as Bart Allen, the speedster son of the Flash. Since another heroic speedster is joining the cast, it can be speculated that the show is setting up the story for Grant’s character to leave the show and be replaced by Jordan’s Bart Allen. Let’s just hope this never happens and we continue to see our favorite Scarlet Speedster fight off evil metal in Central City.
