Here’s everything we know about the 18 movies that got teased in Netflix Summer 2021 preview.
The streaming giant will be releasing one new movie every week between June 20 and September 22, and 7 out of these movies have already announced their release dates. The Netflix summer preview teased a bunch of new, exciting movies and they’re all set to release starting from June of this year. Netflix released over 30 films in the summer of last year and most of them became a success among locked-down viewers. Netflix is loaded up with new ventures this year and this is definitely exciting news for those viewers who are still forced to stay indoors because of the Pandemic. Below is every new 2021 movie that is set to release in the summer.
Good On Paper
Starring ComedianIlizaShlesinger as Andrea Singer, and written by Shlesinger, Good on Paper focuses on a stand up comic Andrea Singer who meets the ideal perfect guy but her suspicious best friend tries to find out whether the seemingly perfect guy is actually too good to be true. This show comes out on June 23 and features supporting performances from Ryan Hansen , Margaret Cho and Rebecca Rittenhouse.
The Ice Road
The Ice Road stars Liam Neeson as a big rig driver named Mike, who leads a rescue mission when a diamond mine collapses in Northern Canada, in order to save trailer workers. It is written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and comes out in June 25. This show also co stars Amber Midthunder, Laurence Fishburne, Holt McCallany.
America: The Motion Picture
This animated movie written by Dave Callaham and directed by Matt Thompson focuses on George Washington and Sam Adams fighting the Brits and taking them down. This show comes out on June 30th and features voice performances from Simon Pegg, Judy Greer, Bobby Moynihan, and Channing Tatum.
The House of Flowers: The Movie (La Casa De Las Flores: La Película)
This is a spinoff of a famous Mexican TV series. The 2021 film focuses on a dying maid, Delia (Norma Angélica), who asks her friend Paulina to look for a treasure in the former De La Mora family home, this leads to three siblings carrying on an investigation. This movie stars The Movie stars Cecilia Suárez, Dario Yazbek Bernal and AislinnDerbez.
Resort to Love:
Resort to Love focuses on an aspiring popstar Erica (played by Christina Milian) who experiences a carrier meltdown. She then re unites with her ex boyfriend Jason (Jay Pharoah) as she is performing as a wedding singer at an island resort and tries not to ruin his wedding while still trying to come to terms with her own feelings. Resort to Love comes out on July 29 and directed by Steven K. Tsuchida and co-stars Alexander Hodge and Sinqua Walls.
The Last Mercenary (Le DerniereMercenaire) :
The Last Mercenary is directed by David Charhon and features Jean-Claude and other supporting performances from Eric Judor, Miou-Miou, and ValérieKaprisky. This movie will focus on a former secret service agent who goes to France as his son is falsely accused of arms and drug trafficking, what ensues later is set to shock fans. This movie comes out on July 30th.
Blood Red Sky:
Blood Red Sky focuses on a woman dealing with a mysterious illness who fights terrorists during a transatlantic flight. This takes a twist as in this process she faces the truth about her vampire existence. Directed by Peter Thorwarth, Blood Red Sky stars PeriBaumeister and includes supporting performances from Graham McTavish and Dominic Purcell. The movie is confirmed to release in July.
Trollhunter: Rise of the Titans
Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans focuses on the events after the Tales of Arcadia trilogy, as the heroes of Arcadia save the earth against the evil Arcane Order.Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans features voice performances from Steven Yeun, Alfred Molina, Nick Offerman, Emile Hirsch, and a bunch of other well-known faces and is all set to release in late July.
The Last Letter From Your Lover:
This movie is based on JojoMoyes’ famous 2008 novel and is directed by Augustine Frizzell. The Last Letter From Your Lover focuses on journalist Ellie Haworth (played by Felicity Jones), who discovers mysterious Love letters from 1965 and further learns about the intimidating lives of industrialist Jennifer Stirling and financial journalist Anthony O’Hare, all the while she’s forming a relationship with an archivist. This movie is set to come out in July and co-stars Shailene Woodley, Callum Turner, and NabhaanRizwan.
The Kissing Booth 3:
In the 3rd Season of this hit rom-com, Elle Evans (Joey King) has to make up her mind if she wants to attend Harvard with her boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi) or stay back in California with her best friend, Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney), at the University of California, Berkeley. Kissing Booth 3, which will come out in August of this year, co-stars Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Molly Ringwald.
Sweet Girl:
Sweet Girl stars Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced and focuses on a man who is on a journey to seek justice for his wife’s death all the while looking after his daughter. The Netflix movie is directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza and co-stars Adria Arjona, Lex Scott Davis, and Justin Bartha and releases in August this year.
He’s All That:
He’s All That is a remake of the 1999 movie, She’s All That. This movie will focus on a social media influencer who tries to turn her emo classmate into a prom king. He’s All That is written by. Lee Fleming Jr. and stars Addison Rae, Taylor Buchanan, Madison Pettis, and a strange special appearance from Kourtney Kardashian. He’s All That comes out on August 27th.
Beckett:
Beckett will focus on a couple who gets into trouble while on a vacation in Epirus, Greece. The 2021 Netflix movie is directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino, and produced by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name). Beckett comes out in August and stars John David Washington, Alicia Vikander, Boyd Holbrook, and Vicky Krieps.
Fear Street Trilogy:
The Fear Street trilogy is based on R.L. Stine’s iconic book series, The part based in 1994 follows various teenagers in Shadyside, Ohio who believe that their bizarre experiences are somehow connected. Sadie Sink co-stars in Fear Street: 1994, Chiara Aurelia has a supporting role in Fear Street: 1978, and Charlene Amoiafeatures in Fear Street: 1666. Fear Street Trilogy is set to come out this summer.
Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed:
This documentary focuses on the life of the famous American painter Bob Ross, who is best known for his creating The Joy of Painting and hosting from 1983 to 1994. Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed, will cover Bob Ross’ influence on American Pop Culture and the events prior to his death in 1995 at the age of 52 and it comes out this summer.
The Loud House Movie:
This movie is based on the epynomous Nickelodeon show, and focuses on the protagonist who is on a trip to Scotland. Here they learn about their royal past and lives a lavish life in Scotland. The Loud House Movie comes out this summer and features voice performances from David Tennant, Grey Griffin, and Michelle Gomez.
