Facebook is planning to flip the switch on the chat system for Instagram and Messenger. On Friday, many editors across the country(from The Verge) noticed an update screen (on iOS and Android) that popped up on Instagram’s app. It stated, “There’s a New Way to Message on Instagram”. It came along with features that included, “new colorful look for your chats,” with more emoji responses, swipe-to-reply, and “chat with friends who use Facebook.”
Once you go through the update, the icon at the top of the app will be replaced by the Facebook Messenger’s logo.
Chats on Instagram are more colorful and interesting than they used to be before. There is a sender’s message that shifts from blue and purple as the scrolling takes place. At Least as of now, it is impossible to message the users of Facebook from the Instagram mobile app.
Cross Messaging Availability
But, Facebook has now made this clear. Facebook has come up with its plans to unify the Instagram to allow cross messaging among Messenger. Meaning one would be able to use Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp at the same time by using the feature of cross-messaging.
Facebook was declared to be restoring the underlying infrastructure for users. It would be for users who were the only one on the apps, they could connect to others using different apps by Facebook.
Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has said that he wants the system end-to-end encrypted. By integrating the apps, Facebook would be competing with iMessage of Apple.
In 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram for more than $1 billion. Also, it bought WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014. The company was requested to reply to the comment on Friday evening. But it did not turn up for the comments. We are still waiting for more to be revealed from Facebook’s side.
