The main series is about to end with the next 2 movies but there are a lot of other spinoffs and projects planned for the franchise.
Fast & Furious 9 is about to release and fans will once again see the disruption this automotive-based series brings. The franchise will also be celebrating its 20th anniversary and even though the main series is about to reach the finish line, the growth of the franchise is expected to happen exponentially. Though the main series will be ending with the next 2 movies, there will be a lot of spinoffs that will carry forward the legacy of the franchise.
Some of the planned spinoffs and movies of the franchise are mentioned below:-
Fast & Furious 10 & 11
These will be the final 2 movies of the original series, though it’s still not clear when these ‘Fast Sage’ sequels will actually release. The first one of the two, F10 was set to release in April 2021 but due to the current scenario, F9’s release was pushed back and therefore of F10 too. These last 2 parts will have the storyline split between them, therefore making it extra special and ending this saga on a high note.
Hobbs & Shaw 2
2020 didn’t see the release from the main franchise but it marked the release of one of the major spinoff movies. The movie took the action sequences away from ‘Dom Toretto’s legendry family and spread it across lawman ‘Luke Hobbs & crook ‘Deckard Shaw’. The successful entry of the movie in the hearts of its fans meant that the sequel was inevitable and Rock confirmed so back in 2020.
The Fast & Furious Female Spinoff
For a while now, fans have been hotly speculating a female-led spinoff of the franchise. The idea was 1st initiated by Vin Diesel in 2017 and it started to gain some ground around 2 years back. This certainly seems like happening since the franchise is also expected to expand its wings and flutter and fly in various directions. The movie would supposedly be based on the character of Letty (aka Michelle Rodriguez) but nothing concrete has been officially released yet.
Fast & Furious: Spy Racers
This was actually the first spinoff that released even before the Hobbs & Shaw and the animated series released on Netflix in 2019 and already has 4 seasons in its bag. The series was produced by Vin Diesel himself and focuses on the character of Dom’s cousin named Tony Toretto who is secretly hired by the government to leak information and takedown gangs. The series received a lot of appreciation from fans and Netflix officially announced that it’ll come back for another season.
Though the main storyline, the front, and center of the Fast and Furious franchise are expected to end with the upcoming 2 movies, there certainly is a lot more to be offered by the franchise. Hope the present situation gets better and we get to see some of these automotive action-based movies.
