Is Russo brothers are planning to make a female-led Extraction spin-off?
EXTRACTION, one of Netflix’s most popular releases of last year is coming back with a spinoff. It had ‘Chris Hemsworth’ (whose ripped physique is hard to not notice) along with ‘Tyler Rake’ and ‘Randeep Hooda’. The movie was literally showcasing all the manliest people present, be it the hero or the villain. The movie is about how a former Special forces soldier turned into a rapacious who finds himself in between of a rescue mission gone awry and goes for the typical action movie mantra of kicking, punching, and stabbing whoever comes in his way first and confronting the person later.
The movie had tons of action (like literally, every other second somebody was fighting somebody else), along with all kinds of a classic action movie set up but what made it a success was the execution of the movie. Director Sam Hargrave was very subtle and straightforward with the story but filled it with lots of ‘jaw-dropping action scenes’, some one-liners from characters, and putting Chris Hemsworth at the centre of everything. The planning and execution worked in their favor and it became the most viewed movie on the OTT platform for almost 4 weeks.
Will There Be A Female-Led Extraction Spin-off?
Later that year, not only a sequel was announced, but the producers ‘Anthony Russo’ and ‘Joe Russo’ meticulously explained their ambitious plan for the entire universe which is happening all across the globe and telling layers and layers of stories. An insider also revealed that out of the so many spinoffs there might be, one might be led by a ‘FEMALE – LED ACTIONER’, although he didn’t reveal much more and tipped the iceberg for fans to start formulating their theories.
Though the lack of details obviously doesn’t help much and makes it vague but putting a woman at the epicenter of an ‘ACTION THRILLER’ definitely muddles fans’ minds with some basic questions – First one definitely being who it might be in the lead? And we obviously have a list of possible contenders, most probable being ‘Charlize Theron’. After all, they are on very good terms after ‘The Old Guard’ and with ‘Atomic Blonde 2’ being at work.
