Paramount plus has announced its strategies to reboot 1983’s Flashdance, as Flashdance TV series. It is centered on a young Black woman who labors in a strip club. The lady has a fantasy of being a ballerina.
Paramount Pictures allocated the initial film which made it simpler for Paramount Television Studios to greenlight the show. Producer Lynda Obst, who was a producer on Flashdance, joined as an executive producer of the Flashdance TV series, as reported by THR.
Tracy McMillan will be composing the series’ script, and Angela Robinson (True Blood) will be serving as the showrunner. Robinson will also be directing its pilot episode.
Flashdance TV Series Will Have Anonymous Cast
The original film, Flashdance spiraled around the character Alex Owens (Jennifer Beals) who labors as a welder by day in a steel mill, and by evening as a dancer in a club. She fantasies about becoming a ballerina one day. The tale concentrates on how that will or won’t be a reality. Robinson’s Flashdance TV series will focus on a young Black woman who labors in a strip club but wishes to be a ballerina. The anonymous lead will “struggle to find her place in the world while navigating romance, money, art, friendship, and how to love herself,” as reported by THR.
However, at this moment, there is no news about the cast of the Flashdance TV series. But, Paramount Plus is planning to launch the Flashdance TV series in early 2021.
The platform recently declared a Grease prequel series.
