Gaten Matarazzo hints about tone change in Stranger Things Season 4

Not long ago, actor Gaten Matarazzo dropped a hint claiming that the tone for this season will be more mature, “the tone is definitely matured.” Gaten Matarazzo also added, “I think they want their show to mature with their kids.” A report by Screenrant also reveals that the makers have changed the tone of Season 4 of Stranger Things on purpose.

It can be considered a very smart creative decision as most shows suffer to understand that their target audience also grows as the show progresses and thus the tone needs to be changed to a certain degree. Gaten Matarazzo says that the writers had to incorporate the physical changes of the actors (as they go through puberty and enter adulthood) into the plotline.

“As we are growing older as people, we have to grow older as characters. They’re confronted by this issue, but they embrace it, and they use it to their advantage. And they don’t freak out when we get taller or when our voices drop or anything like that. They use it and they use it as ammunition for their writing.”

David Harbour dropping hints

Recently, The Stranger Things Actor David Harbour, who plays the fan favourite, Hopper, went live on Instagram from the sets of Stranger Things Season 4. Although he did not give any specific details, he interacted with co-star Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven. They both claimed to be in different locations and Brown even said that she was in Atlanta a few days ago, to shoot for the 4th season of the famous sci-fi.

In the Instagram live Harbour’s look was exactly similar to how he looked in the teaser of Stranger Things Season 4 which released in early 2020, titled “From Russia with Love”.According to the trailer, Hopper who allegedly died by the end of season 3 is alive and in Russia, probably imprisoned. The rest of the cast including Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (GatenMatarazzo), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) will be seen on a quest to find Hopper.

During an interaction, Harbour also compared his character to that of Gandalf, hinting at the fact that he too may have gone through a different passage of time while stuck in the Upside Down.

Theories on Stranger Things Season 4

At the end of the 3rd season, we witness Hopper allegedly dying and the Byers along with Eleven moving away from Hawkins. Theories claim that they will return to Hawkins in season 4. The Russians will also play a major role in season 4, trying to conduct experiments. We might also get Hopper’s back story, who is now imprisoned in Russia, working on a snowfield. The Mind Flyer is still freely roaming around and there might be chances of introducing Russian twins who have the same powers as Eleven.

A lot is set to happen in Stranger Things Season 4. GatenMatarazzo, while making an appearance on Jimmy Fallon in April 2021, even said that this season will be the “scariest” of them all.
