Has Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence Successfully Created a Realistic Digital Human?

Samsung has been making digital human avatars for a long time, that can walk and talk exactly like a human being. It can be used in fields of entertainment and business.

The name of the project is Neon. The digital human has been brought to CES by STAR Labs. Much information has not been revealed by the company. Pranav Mistry, the lead of the Neon has tweeted, that shows the face of the project. “Core R3” technology used by the company could be used to create “new impressions, new movements, and new dialogues”.

According to Pranav Mistry, digital humans will be a major step in 2020 in the field of technology. During the demo given by him, he talked to a female digital avatar. It has all the qualities of a human. It looked like a realistic human. Also, it has answered all the questions asked by the team. The computer generated responses were unique.

The digital avatars will not be used for the purpose of knowledge only but they will be assigned smart work to do. They could be used as guides or crew members. The avatar will be based on real faces of humans. A senior technical writer said, “the physical features are taken from the likeness of the person but the behaviours are not necessarily theirs”. They can give them new behavioural features so they don’t react the same way a person does.

A software engine, Spectra, will be used as a memory for Neons. “Spectra will give you that experience that you wish you had in your phone”, Mistry added. The technology used by Samsung in Bixby has not been used in it.

The best is yet to come. If Samsung’s Neon can really stand up to the expectations of it’s spectators.
